Aluminum Foil Tapes

General Information: Aluminum foil tapes are flame, moisture and chemically resistant and are also resistant to degradation caused by UV light.

Aluminum foil tapes can be custom slit to width and can be manufactured in long length rolls. Aluminum foil tapes are easily cut to custom shapes and sizes, specific to the application. In addition to the varying mil thicknesses and a range of available adhesives, most of these tapes are sold with a liner, but some general purpose aluminum foil tapes are self wound, with no liner. The typical color is silver, but white aluminum foil is also available.

• maximize heating and cooling efficiency by minimizing the heat/cool loss over broad surface areas
• protect heat sensitive components from damage.

Technical Details: Can-Do National Tape stocks 2mil aluminum foil tapes with a rubber based adhesive system, and acrylic based adhesives are available as well. Aluminum foil tapes may have a silicone adhesive, and these tapes are used in high temperature applications. In addition, Can-Do National Tape laminates adhesives to many different aluminum foils, creating custom engineered aluminum foil tape products. The thickness of these tape products vary from 1mil to 10mil for the foil itself. And, the end product may have a high temperature adhesive and a flame retardant polyester material laminated to the aluminum foil tape, creating a unique product for a unique application. These tapes have a broad range of characteristics suited to their application.

Applications: Many types of insulation are manufactured with aluminum foil tape laminated to one side, in order to seal the seams. When used as a sealant, aluminum foil tape can be used to:

• provide an excellent vapor barrier, as it conforms well to irregular surfaces.
• create a heat shield, benefiting the appliance and automotive industries.
• wrap copper refrigeration coils inside refrigerator walls.
• mask sensitive components from damage during paint stripping, such as when commercial airplanes are sandblasted and repainted.
