Achieving the Optimum Bond

Just as the name implies pressure sensitive adhesive requires some amount of pressure when applied to reach the desired bond to the substrate. It is always recommended that the surface the PSA will be adhered to be clean and dry. Most adhesives form their optimum bond within 72 hours of application, allowing the adhesive to "wet- out" on the surface that it contacts. Some materials are harder to bond to than others. Low surface energy surfaces don't allow the adhesive to flow or wet-out while high surface energy surfaces do.
