EVA Foam

EVA Foam

Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) is considered to be a safe alternative to PVC. EVA is popularly known as expanded rubber or foam rubber. It is a plastic made by combining ethylene and vinyl acetate. It’s very soft and elastic, and it can be made of plastic that’s like rubber or constructed into an EVA foam, with the use of a plasticizer.

EVA plastic is an elastomeric polymer that produces a soft, flexible and “rubber-like” material. The material has good clarity and gloss, strong enough to withstand low-temperatures, is stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive with waterproof properties, and is not affected by UV radiation.

Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) Foam can easily be cut from sheets and molded into shape. It is a soft, yet durable polymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate commonly used in flooring, but also in sports equipment, and set design. The material is frequently used to manufacture flip-flops as it is soft without being sponge-like. EVA foam is trouble-free and easy to work with and often comes in a variety of colors and thicknesses.

EVA foam EVA are famous for being lightweight, easy to form, odorless, glossy, and cheaper compared to natural rubber. It is used as padding in various sports equipment such as bicycle saddles, hockey pads, boxing and mixed martial arts gloves and helmets, ski boots, surfboards, wakeboard boots, waterski boots, fishing rods and fishing reel handles. It is in most cases used as a shock absorber in sport shoes, slippers, and sandals. It is used for the manufacture of end-user floats for commercial fishing gear such as purse seine (seine fishing) and gillnets. In fishing rods, EVA is used on the end of the rod handle. EVA can be used as a substitute for cork in many applications. Also, because of its buoyancy, EVA has made its way into personal products like floating eyewear. It can also used in the photovoltaics industry as an encapsulation material for crystalline silicon solar cells in the manufacture of photovoltaic modules. It is also used in building equipment like insulation and carpet underlay, and in healthcare for things like splints.

EVA foam is also popular as flooring mats in exercise rooms, gyms, weight rooms, trade shows, martial arts studios, and more. Pre-cut EVA Foam mats easily interlock for quick installation and removal. They can be transported, stored, and reinstalled without hassle or difficulty. The material’s softness means it reduces fatigue from standing for long periods of time and absorbs noise. The foam is easy to clean and manage and is resistant to chemicals, making it ideal for gyms. It is particularly weather-resilient and has low water absorption so that it can withstand moisture and liquids.
